The celebration started with the offering of special long life prayer at main temple at 5.30 am. Acting abbot of the monastery Kachen Lobsang Sherab la offered Mendrel Tensum to the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Monks performed prayers for two hours and offered breakfast during the prayer session. At 7.30 am entire monks gathered to plant 3500 no's of silver trees in monastery premises. After planting trees, monks left to join public celebration of His Holiness Birthday at settlements palace. The day was celebrated with great joy.
